The International Baccalaureate program aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. (IB Mission Statement)
Notre Dame Prep recently became an authorized member of the International Baccalaureate World School community after a rigorous and comprehensive application process. Beginning in the 2024-2025 school year, students will be able to pursue the IB Diploma Programme or take IB-level classes.
The IB Program is an internationally recognized and respected model of teaching and learning that empowers students to become inquisitive, open-minded, and compassionate thinkers. This holistic approach to education aligns with Notre Dame’s vision for 21st century education. Motivated and willing students are able to challenge themselves in a way that is appropriate for their academic goals and personal maturity.
The IBDP looks for a mix of academic qualifications, personal qualities, and potential for success in the program, so students will be evaluated holistically. Students who wish to take IB courses or attempt the full IB Diploma must schedule an appointment with the DP Coordinator during their sophomore year to review: academic goals and achievement, interest and motivation, and the IB Learner Profile.
After consultation with the DP coordinator, counselors, teachers, and parents, students may choose to participate as a full IB Diploma candidate by taking six IB-level courses and the DP Core or by taking one or more individual IB-level courses. Students may be able to earn college credit for these courses by achieving certain scores on internal and external assessments.
Email our IB Coordinator Mr. Marc Sulzycki ([email protected]) with any questions about the program. You can also find out more information on the IB Diploma Programme’s website.
