Fairfield Rotary Foundation Scholarships

To be eligible, a student must live in Fairfield, Bridgeport, Easton or Redding and be in good standing at a Fairfield secondary school, a Bridgeport secondary school, or Joel Barlow High School.  Senior must be planning to attend college.  Senior must have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to community service and exemplify the Rotary motto “Service Above Self.”  Scholastic achievement and financial need are also considered.

Mutual Security Credit Union

In honor of Berny Klaus and Joseph G. Fernandes, six individual scholarships will be awarded.  Scholarships will be awarded to students, who are in good academic standing, have demonstrated financial need, and have given selflessly of themselves to improve the overall state of affairs in their community.

Deadline:  April  30, 2008    Application process starts Feb. 1, 2008 -  April 30th

 

 

Northrop Grumman Engineering Scholarships

Northrop Grumman Norden Systems in Norwalk.  Scholarship competition for Fairfield County and New Haven County High School Students who will be entering college to pursue a degree in Engineering.

Mutual Security Credit Union

Applicants need to be of a high school senior. Must have a minimum grade pt average of 2.5, have curriculum, and community service.

Shelton Flag Football League

Recipient must have played with an S.F.F.L. varsity team through his/her final season of eligibility, and must be accepted into an accredited university, college, school or military service.

John T. DeBarber Memorial Scholarship

 

Graduating senior must be a resident of either Seymour or Oxford.  The Scholarship Committee will judge the application based on grade point average, financial need, community service, motivation, work experience and the student essay.

The Vera H. and William R. Todd Foundation

Applicant must be:  a) a current resident of Derby or Shelton, Connecticut, with continuous residence of a minimum of four years;  b) a high school graduate or high school senior planning to attend college.

Elizabeth Gould Scholarship

Award is for female applicants

Financial need is an important consideration

Demonstrated Academic Excellence and Leadership Qualities. Upon completion of application, please submit to your Guidance Counselor at your high school.

Stratford Junior Woman’s Club, Inc.

Student must be a resident of Stratford and graduating in the Spring of 2008 from a public, private, or technical high school.  Student would be pursuing  a higher education and submits a letter of acceptance or intent from the college/university. Student must have involvement in community service and organizations in Stratford.

2008 Jacky Durrell Service Award ($1000) (3 scholarships to be awarded)

Applicant must be a Town of  Fairfield resident who is planning to attend a post secondary institution with a program of study of one year or longer.  The scholarship will be awarded to a deserving individual on the basis of:  community service, school service, evidence of leadership ability and financial need.

Monroe Soccer Club/Monroe AYSO

For graduating seniors.  Students that have been involved with MSC and Monroe AYSO.  Students committed to furthering their education, devotion to the sport soccer, grade point average – “B” minimum, notable soccer achievement  (All Conference, etc. Demonstrated leadership qualities(team captain, board member etc.), conduct on and off the field (community involvement, etc)

The 2008 Easton Garden Club Scholarship

Applicants must be a resident of Easton, Connecticut and seniors must be enrolled as full-time student at an accredited two – or four- year college, university, vocational-technical school or community college for the 2008-09 academic year.  The scholarship money must be used for college costs.  Applicants  must demonstrate interest in pursuing higher education or a career in one or more of the following fields:  agriculture, biological studies, environmental studies, forestry and wildlife management, horticulture, landscape design or marine biology.  Applicants will be judged on leadership and excellence as exemplified through academic achievement and extracurricular activities, including commitment to community service.

Slovak Gymnastic Union Sokol

For Students accepted for admission to an accredited college/university who are of Slovak or Carpatho-Russian descent and residents of Bridgeport, Stratford, Trumbull or Shelton, Connecticut.  Applications are in Guidance.

Milford Jaycees 2008 Scholarship – Pamela Moffitt Memorial

Applicants must be residents of Milford.  This college scholarship is given to a student who has best displayed excellence in the academic areas, as well as supported Milford’s local community.

The Gentlemen of Tau Kappa Epsilon-Delta Gamma Chapter

This award will be awarded to a male high school senior who plans to attend the University of Connecticut-Storrs in the fall of 2008.  Candidates will be evaluated upon three criteria, academic success, extracurricular involvement, and leadership potential.

Kate Sterling Bunnell Scholarships(The First Congregational Church)

For Senior Stratford Residents, based on financial need, without regard to academic achievement, sex, race or creed.

Deadline:  June 2, 2008

 

The Borck Jr. Golf Tournament

Students may apply to this scholarship if they have Academic Responsibility; An interest in golf; and Excellent citizenship.

Deadline:  July 7th, 2008

 

 

Portuguese American Civic League of Bridgeport

 

The awards will be based on merit, SAT scores, as well as need and social commitment.  Postmarked Deadline date:  August 15th, 2008.  No late applications will be accepted.

 

 

The National Federation of The Blind of Connecticut – 2008 Academic Scholarships

NFBC scholarships are judged on the basis of academic quality, service to the community and financial need.  All applicants must be legally blind, a Connecticut resident or attending school in Connecticut, and must be enrolled in a full-time program.

Deadline date: September 15, 2008.
