Mission: Choose a music file and create a fully animated video for your
song.
Software: Macromedia Flash MX
What is Flash?: Flash MX is a program that is used to
create frame by frame animation with a computer.
In it's simplest form,
think of it as an old-fashioned flip book animation. This program is pretty
involved, and
most of the students draw their own art in Flash, as well as frame by frame
animation, which must be timed
to music.
Congratulations, classes! The new videos have arrived.
You have all worked very hard on something that
was not easy to do. To produce a slick final product,
this assignment needed a variety of ingredients including:
drawing skill; imagination; difficult software manipulation, storytelling, musical timing, rhythym, and
animation
prowess. Below you will find a list of this years videos that meet or exceed
those criteria.
Please be patient. These files are all between 1 and 5 megs
each and may take some
time to load.

Welcome
to the Black Parade- My Chemical Romance- Bill Boroski- Bill had
some of the best original drawing and animation I have ever seen.
He tells a story with his video, which is rare. Overall an excellent
job!
Miracles-
Mariah Carey- Mike Martinez- A totally different take on the music
video. Very inspirational visual approach that Mike took.

Yellow
Submarine- Deana Plucker- Deana got flash. Period. Excellent
drawing coupled with outstanding animation and a classic song resulted
in one of the best of the year. Intense.
Viva
La Fiesta - Brian Rodrigues- Brian chose an excellent
song for flash. Fast paced and lots of action. He has some solid text
manipulation and an overall excellent flow to his video. Overall outstanding
job!!!
ABC
- Chris Mauro- Chris has some of the best text manipulation
I have seen this year. This song is fast moving and Chris kept right
up with it, which is difficult to do. A perfect example of a captivating
video with minimal drawing incorporated.
Carwash
- Amy Vu - Without a doubt some of the best drawing this
year. Amy spent a lot of time with initial creation of characters
and subtle animation effects. She also used her video as a storytelling
vehicle, which is not done very often. Outstanding. Bravo.
Love
Shack - Jessica Camarero - Jessica has a classic song
and some very good technique here. She uses some very cool tricks
here including converting to bitmaps and image masking. Very well
drawn bits in here too : )
2005
I
Got You Babe- Crystal Algea - Perhaps the MOST unique
idea for a video this year. I think JIF should buy this off of you
for an internet commercial : ) Excellent drawing skills help Crystal
to get the message across in this Sonny and Cher Classic.
Kung
Fu Fighting- Rich Felsman - Kung Fu Fighting - Rich has
done THE MOST intensive animation this year. Period. He is a student
that took this project to the extreme, and has an obvious talent in
this area. Yowza! Check it out!
Crazy
Laura DeProfio -Laura takes the concept video to a new level!
Excellent use of drawing skills, high grade animation and superb timing
all make this an awesome video for an super song. Awesome!
40
Hour Week- Dan Dube - The Phantom strikes again! Another great
piece of work from Dan! He has coupled excellent drawing skills with
outstanding flash animation skill to come up with this instant classic!
2004
Alone
Again- Anthony Crisci - Anthony....what can I say? WOW comes to
mind. A great concept video, and this is rare among students. An odd
song choice for a high school student, but what a great example of
utilizing your imagination. Some awesome original artwork as well.
An excellent job.
Joy to the World- Spencer
Richards - Joy to the World! Absolutely
Marvelous! Spencer has a real talent here, and it shows. He has many
original ideas and carries them out perfectly. Some of the best work
I have seen, and he is only a sophomore.
Yakkety
Yak- Vicki Pekar - A Great song choice, coupled with an outstanding
talent. Vicki can draw, animate and has a great sense of timing.
Overall, one of the best efforts I have seen this year. Super!
2003
Chris
DeForge - Chris took a totally different approach to Billy Joel's
Leningrad. A well thought out concept for this emotional
song. Because of the use of photos, this file is larger than others.
Victoria
Soberal - Victoria has done some of the
best drawing and creative animation I have seen! Her original animations
combined with some animated .gifs really makes for a great storytelling
flash video.
