With head coach Kate Coldren returning to guide the Lady Lancers, the volleyball team set their sights on qualifying for the state tournament and providing their SWC competition with quality matches. The Lancers traveled to Hartford to open their season against SMSA, and came away with their first victory of the season, a 3-1 win. After dropping a game to Oxford, N.D. shut-out Kolbe 3-0 to begin their '09 campaign with a 2-1 start. Unfortunately, their SWC opponents were especially tough this season, and the Lancers were only able to best one more team on the season, a second win over Kolbe. The matches that N.D. lost, though, were all hard fought and very competitive, some games lost by only two or three points. The Lancers will look to build upon the lessons learned this year, and turn to a group of underclassmen to fill the shoes of several seniors who will be graduating. League honors went to Bonnie Broome, who was named to the All Patriot Division team and Jessica Ormrod who received Honorable Mention.
