Peter Cofrancesco, Head Coach, Girls
The girls' soccer team set out on the 2009 season hoping to learn from past years and show growth against league opponents. The Southwest Conference has many talented and experienced soccer programs, so Notre Dame's team of 16 or so varsity players had to face some of the toughest teams in the entire state. The season started out with a tough loss to Pomperaug at home, but the Lancers did manage to score two goals in the game. From there on out, the depth of other teams proved difficult to over-take, as the Lancers failed to post a win on the season. Their closest game came in the final match of the season, versus Seymour High School of the Naugatuck Valley League. Holding Seymour to just one goal, the Lady Lancers lost 1-0, but were encouraged for next season with this solid showing. Southwest Conference honors were awarded to seniors Nicole Noonan and Kelly Conniff and junior Jackie Bria who all received Honorable Mention.
