Sometimes a winless season can seem to go on forever, but when most of your team is made up of underclassmen, looking ahead to the future can certainly provide a bright spot. That is exactly the case for the N.D. girls' lacrosse team. After being challenged by some of the best teams in southwestern Connecticut, the Lancers will look to learn from the 2007 season, build upon their strengths, and move forward to challenge their Southwest Conference opponents in the future. Despite dropping games to league power-houses like Masuk and Pomperaug, the Lancers lost two heart-breaking games to Weston. The first match between the two teams moved to two overtimes, with Weston scoring the game-winning goal with only three seconds left in the second extra session. The second meeting of the two teams again put N.D. on the wrong end of the score. Coach Joanna Lohan noted though, "the girls played hard and did what we asked them to do." During the season, senior captains Megan Langdon, Tina Hoang (All Patriot Division) and Gabby Alicea guided the Lancers. Other contributors to the season were juniors Katelyn Crowley (All Patriot Division), Haley Aubrey, and goalie Jenn Schell. The Lancers will look ahead to 2008 to move forward and see their 2007 underclassmen rise to the challenge.
