ND FOOTBALL
Jason Hart, Head Coach
As the Lancers prepared to take on a schedule that included the likes of SWC powerhouses Bunnell and Pomperaug, Coach Jason Hart acknowledged that the team was small and very young, but also very fast. It was this speed and the desire to see leadership from his seniors that gave Notre Dame's coach, beginning his second year, optimism for the 2007 campaign. With senior captains Sly Accettullo, Steve Sorak, Tommy King and Colin Dempsey leading the way for the Lancers, the team posted an impressive shut-out over Bethel to kick off the season. N.D. followed up this win with an away loss to Bunnell - one of the league's best teams. In week 3, the Lancers scored on the first possession of the game which turned out to be the only score of the game for N.D. which was downed by a point by Newtown.  The team went on to post five wins in their next seven games including three shut outs over Nonnewaug, Barlow and Immaculate and a Homecoming Weekend victory over Weston. Prior to the Weston game, members of the 1964 N.D. Football state championship team were honored. The Lancers finished the season with a 6-4 final record, improving their record by a win compared to last season. The following Lancers received recognition by the SWC for their regular contributions on the field: Accettullo (First Team - All SWC and All State), Dempsey (First Team - All SWC), Joe Iluore (First Team - All SWC), Alex Muniz (First Team - All SWC), and Mike Bartell (Second Team - All SWC). N.D. will look to underclassmen to fill the many roles left open thanks to graduation and again provide a constant challenge to their  SWC rivals.
