Each Tuesday afternoon, high school bowlers from around Fairfield County converged upon Nutmeg Bowl to face each other in weekly competition. Notre Dame's varsity squad, under the guidance of N.D. alumn Gary Tutoli, again excelled and provided stiff competition for their opponents. Shawna Turner, Bobby Fulton and Catherine Maslan were the top three bowlers on the '07-'08 squad. Turner captained and anchored the team. Several times during the season, Turner needed to make a spare in the tenth frame for the win -- and did just that. She also had the highest girls' average in the entire league with Maslan holding the second place average. Sarah Buczek, David Wojna, John Balog and Keena Robinson rounded out the rest of the varsity team. The Lancers finished their regular competition with a 6-5 mark and in the league playoffs downed Bassick to add another win to their total. Adding accomplishments to a good season, Buczek won the girls' singles competition and Maslan and Turner teamed up to win the doubles competition.
All matches are held Tuesdays, 3-5 pm.
Practices are Thursdays, 3-5 pm.
